Mini sheet protectors is sincerely not a defined term. Even though over the years it seem like half the size of a letter size is considered a mini size sheet of paper. It make sense so we named our sheet protectors that holds a half folded letter size sheet of paper: Mini sheet protectors.

It will then hold a 5.5 wide by 8.5 inch high sheet of paper or photo. For more information feel free to use the link about or use the picture to the left to make a purchase at Keepfiling.com

What is the name of 14 x 8-1/2 paper size ???

Legal size document sizes are very common but often on printers and copy machines only refer to this document size is the actual size of the document and not the historical name. Unlike "Letter Size" which more often is written both as 8-1/2x11 inch as well as the term Letter Size.
Once for all Legal size documents is the same as documents made in the size of 8-1/2 x 14 inch. For more information on the legal size document format check this blog as well as this this page from Keepfiling listing all available legal page storage options: Keepfiling legal page options.  There are other pages there concerning binding options that can be check-out as well. Happy filing.

Polypropylene Sheet Protectors

I have before touch the subject of polypropylene in this blog and as it is such an important issue I have decided to bring it up again provide extra information on the terms of polypropylene.

Keepfiling.com only sell archival safe and acid free polypropylene sheet protectors and pages protectors. No PVC or vinyl sheet protectors is offered.

But what makes polypropylene so perfect for storage of papers, documents and photos ?

Polypropylene, or PP as it is becoming known, is derived from oil. Basically a waist product from production of oil and gas which has been turned into a useful commodity which today is used widely for many different products.
Polypropylene is a polymer comprised of carbon and hydrogen. It burns only at very high temperatures and ignite at about 600 degrees Celsius and turns into non-toxic water and carbon dioxide when it burn.
When heated the soften point is about 150 degrees celsius. This is high above even the hottest temperature measured in Death Valley California (hottest point in North America).
It is naturally Ph neutral (acid free) and clear. It contains a very small amount of water - less than 0.2% and does not absorb humidity from the surrounding environment. With this it don't support mildew and mould growth, don't rot or decay which makes it perfect for file management purposes.
In conclusion it can be said that the mechanical properties of polypropylene are remarkably useful for records management products of sheet protectors, file jackets, page protectors ,etc.

It should be mentioned that polypropylene can be recycled after end usage. Melted into other plastic products often products where the cleanness of the polypropylene is not as important as with plastic skids (pallets), garbage containers, etc.

Heavy Duty Sheet Protectors

Heavy duty sheet protectors is the definition for sheet protectors that are stronger than the average sheet protector where most that are sold is either standard weight sheet protectors or light weight gauge sheet protectors sometimes also named economy sheet protectors.

Heavy duty sheet protectors is usual sheet protectors marked: Heavy weight sheet protectors or Super heavy weight sheet protectors the difference is the thickness of the material. Heavy weight is usual 70 - 90 micron (2.75 - 3.55 Mil) thick when made in polypropylene and Super heavy weight is 110 micron (4.33 Mil) or more in thickness. This for each layer of polypropylene material.

The simple conclusion is that what makes the sheet protector a heavy duty sheet protector is simply the thickness of the material and with this its ability to protect the document even during frequent usage.

Here is a couple of examples of fine heavy duty sheet protectors from Keepfiling:

Super Heavy Weight Sheet Protectors

Both items here presented is made in glass clear polypropylene but they could just as well be presented in different type of material as low reflective sheet protectors as an example.
